I was wondering when I am a US citizen am i able to petition my mom(from Sweden) to become a US citizen? Can i petition asap when i am a US citizen? Can i have my mom come over to the US and change her staus(like i did when my husband and I got married)? What are my options, thank you.

If your mother is not in this country when you become a citizen you will need to file a petition for an alien relative to enter the country on a non-quota visa.
If she is already here on a visitors visa, she can petition for a change of status and she will be permitted to remain here as long as her petition for such a change is pending.
The application to petition may be obtained from Home Land Security (ICE). The petition also requires a fee which varies with the type of change you are requesting.
Non-quota visas are not counted against the quota allotted by the Attorney General for each country each year. In other words your mother will not have to wait until a quota visa is available. She will be able to immediately come to the US as soon as the petition is approved by ICE.
You can’t petition for citizenship for your mother, but you can petition for immigration for her. Once the petition is approved and sent to the nearest US consulate, she will be able to apply for an immigrant visa. On arrival in the US, she will get a green card and can apply for citizenship after five years.
As for when you are allowed to petition for her, you can do that as soon as you are naturalized and have proof of your own citizenship.
as soon a you get that certificate in your hands you can file the i-130, should take about 9-12 months for her to get here, , you need to send your birth certificate and a copy of your natz cert. after approval the NVC will notify of further processing procedures, be ready to have copies of your tax returns for the last 3 years, money orders in the amounts of $70 and $ 400 , an original birth certificate of hers, if married, divorced or a widow then marriage, divorce or death certificate of spouse, copy of her biographic page of her passport and 2 passport photos of her. all this will be requested in about 4 phases of the process. forms involved are the I-130, I-864,DS-230 part I & II . agencies involved http://www.uscis.gov and http://www.nvc.gov
Number 1: If she is here on a visitors visa you can NOT apply for a change of status! That is called ‘Visa Fraud” and she will be deported and banned from the US for 10 years! There are two basic things that you need to petition your mother:
1) attained the age of 21 years old.
2)be a US citizen.
As soon as these two conditions have been met you can apply for a visa for her to come here. I think you already have some idea of how the process work?
Good Luck!
